Success at Minto Tournament...

The Pee Wee LL team travelled to Clifford on January 20th for a one day tournament put on by Minto Minor Hockey.

The first game of the day was 9:15 am vs. Shelburne Wolves.
Landon Boers got us on the board right off the face off with a goal 12 seconds into the game, unassisted. On the next faceoff, Sawyer Voskmap on a pass from Ryerson Hargrave got our second of the game just 18 seconds in.
We would get two more in the first period from Voskamp, assisted by Aleah Brown on both and Hargrave on one. We would end the first period with a 4-0 lead.
Shelburne would get one past Bowles in the second period though. Our offense was at work with three more goals in the second: Boers assisted by Hunter Gilbert, Gilbert assisted by Boers and Owen Smith, Hargrave assisted by Brown and Voskamp.
Into the third period we go with a 7-1 lead. Zach Bowles was doing a great job in net and worked hard at stopping the shots taken by Shelburne. Shelburne would get 2 in the third though to match the 2 more goals we added to the tally. Boers unassisted and Voskamp from Brown and Hargrave.
Final score 9-3. This moved us onto the 'A' side and next game at 2:30 vs. TCDMHA Rebels.
The adrenaline was pumping for the team in the second game.
Hunter Gilbert got us on the board first 4 minutes into the first period, unassisted. The first period ended at a 1-0 lead for us.
The second period saw Boers get an unassisted goal with the time winding down in the period. Bowles was doing a great job of fending off shots from the Rebels.
The third period saw our lead grow by 2 when Jamie Donnelley got his first of the day assisted by Boers and Voskmap ended our tally with a goal assisted by Brown and Hargrave.
Final score 4-0 and Bowles earns a shut-out!
This win put us into the 'A' finals at 7:45 vs. New Tecumseth Tornadoes. We were hoping the kids energy levels were still high as it had been a long day to this point. New Tecumseth would get the better of us and get on the scoreboard with 2 quick goals to start the game. The first period would end with them having a 2-0 lead.
Our offense came alive in the second period though. 5 goals would be scored in this period: Brown assisted by Hargrave, Hargrave unassisted, Boers assisted by Gilbert, Voskamp unassisted and Voskamp assisted by Hargrave. New Tecumseth would also get 2 goals to bring them within 1 goal. Second period 5-4 Central Perth.
The excitement was building for the third period. The plays were back and forth and each team had to work extra hard on offense and defense. Boers would get another unassisted goal 35 seconds into the third to make it 6-4. 10 minutes of play went by and New Tecumseth would get one past Bowles to bring the score to 6-5.  Right after that though, Donnelley would also get another to make it 7-5. The lead was cut to one when 10 seconds later, the Tornadoes got another to make it 7-6. Tensions were high and the fans were on the edge of their seats! One minute went by and Hunter Gilbert and Landon Boers connected for Gilbert to score the final goal of the game - we win 8-6!!!
What a great day for the team!   We were just sorry that our head coach, Bob McMillan and our #12 Nolan McMillan missed the day. We would have loved to share the victories with them.

Sunday we travelled to Hensall for the third last regular season game. The kids were still tired and worn out from their big day on Saturday. We had Haiden Goetz and Tim Beuerman playing up with us as well our bench was a little short. Hargrave would get the 2 goals of the game assisted by Phil Beuerman, Savannah Gropp and Haiden Goetz.  We couldn't muster enough strength and fell 4-2.

This week we travel to Goderich Thursday night for 7:15pm and Sunday to Mitchell for 4:10pm to finish out our regular season.
