A Saturday afternoon game and Monday night game resulted in a split.
Saturday we travelled to Hensall to play BCH. This team always proves to be a tough one for us and this game was no different.
BCH would get one goal in the first and two in the second. Six minutes into the third period, Hunter Gilbert and Sawyer Voskamp assisted on a goal by Landon Boers to bring us within 2. Our defense couldn't fend off the BCH attackers as they scored one an empty netter with 1:09 left in the third.
Final score 4-1.
We travelled to Clifford on Monday night for our next game vs. Mount Forest. Our last game vs. Mount Forest resulted in a win so we were hoping for the same ending here.
The first period had the defense working hard as neither team would score. Zach Bowles was helping his team out a lot in the first by making key saves.
Into the second with a scoreless game we go. Mount Forest scored 2 quick goals 2 minutes apart midway thru the second to make it a 2-0 game.
Our hopes weren't gone yet as we came out rejuvenated after the flood. Seven minutes into the third, our offense took flight. Ryerson Hargrave assisted on a goal by Landon Boers. Three minutes later, Hargrave again would assist on a goal by Jamie Donnelley. All tied up at 2! Then just 1 minute later, Hargrave would get his third assist of the game on a goal from Sawyer Voskamp. We were ahead by 1 but with 4 minutes to go. Mount Forest pulled their goalie with a minute or so left in the period to get the extra attacker out. It was a tense minute or so as our defense worked to get the puck out of our end and try and clear it down to their net. We fended off the offense and the game ended at a 3-2 win!
Great effort from everyone again.
This week we have a Thursday night game vs. Drayton in Monkton. We are waiting to see if we have another game Drayton on Saturday morning. Stay tuned!
