2017 starts off with a Win and a Penalty Free game!
The Atom's got right into 2017 with a game Monday night vs. Kincardine Kanucks.
We were hoping that the kids weren't too full of holiday goodies or too tired to play a Monday night game during the Christmas holidays.
Tim Beuerman got the nod to start in net for our Central Perth team. Kincardine was running with a short bench so we hoped we could capitalize on that. The first period was a tight one, back and forth from both ends. Neither team could muster a goal in the first period.
The second period saw Central Perth get on the board 2 1/2 minutes into the period. Sawyer Voskamp scored on a pass from defenceman Gavin Falk and Hunter Gilbert. Our lead wouldn't stand for long as Kincardine got one by Beuerman 2 minutes later. Voskamp would connect with Aleah Brown for his second of the game with 2 minutes left. Into the third we went with a slim 2-1 lead.
Nicole Eby took over goaltending duties for the third period. Kindardine scored to even things up at 2 a piece. But Central Perth broke free after that scoring 5 goals in the third period. Ryerson Hargrave would mark 3 goals down in this game with assists from Voskamp (two assists), Cadyen Hulley, Aleah Brown and Gavin Falk. Aleah Brown scored on a beauty breakaway and Cayden Hulley also added an unassisted goal to round things out. Final score 7-2.
The Atom's have a practice in Monkton on Saturday and then a rare Sunday night game in Monkton at 6:30 vs. Mitchell Meteors.
