The Atom's hit a bump in the road...
The Atom LL team had a rough weekend with 2 games.
The first of 2 games was on Saturday in Blyth vs. the Blyth Brussels Crusaders. Nicole Eby started in net for our squad. Sawyer Voskamp got us on the board in the first period on an assist from Kiyran Coulter. Our defense had a hard time fending off the Crusaders and Eby came out at the start of the third with a three goal deficit.
Tim Beuerman came in for the third period. Our next goal would come in the third period from Hunter Gilbert, unassisted. Beuerman would let 2 get by him in the third for a final score of 6-2.
Monday night was an exhibition game vs. Twin Centre Stars. The teams appeared to be evenly matched. Twin Centre would strike first on Beuerman, who started in net. Sawyer Voskamp and Hunter Gilbert worked together for Voskamp to get us on the board to tie it up at 1. 2 minutes later though, Beuerman thought he had the shot but the rebound got away from him and the Twin Centre player pushed it in to make it 2-1. The second period saw Central Perth come ahead for 2 goals, one from Voskamp and one from Ryerson Hargrave, both unassisted.
The third period was back and forth action. Voskamp would get his third of the game unassisted again. But Twin Centre would get the better of us scoring three times in the third period to go ahead 5-4. With seconds remaining our squad wasn't able to tie it up. A lot of the second and third periods were played short handed as we incurred quite a few penalties. The kids played through it though.
Let's hope this weekend we can get back on the winning path when we welcome BCH Ice Dogs 1 to Monkton for a 11 am start.
