A great game vs. a tough contender!
The Atom LL welcomed Mitchell Meteors to our rink on Saturday, Dec. 16th. Mitchell has had a great year so far with very few goals scored against them. We were hoping to change that.

Our last home game before Christmas was on Saturday vs. our neighbours to the South, Mitchell Meteors. Mitchell has been a tough opponent with very few goals scored against them thus far, only 3 in fact. Our Atoms were hoping to change that.
Nicole Eby started in net for the home team. From the drop of the puck it was a fast paced game with lots of back and forth action. The first period saw just one goal get passed Eby with 4:47 left.
Mitchell remained strong in the second period scoring 2 more goals 2 minutes apart. All hope wasn't lost yet being down only 3-0. With 35 seconds left though, Sawyer Voskamp found the top corner for our first goal of the game,  unassisted.
Into the third we went down 3-1. Tim Beuerman came in to relive Eby. Mitchell got to Beuerman early in the third with 2 goals 3 minutes in, 40 seconds apart. Our team rallied and found some more energy to finish off. Voskamp came through for us again with another unassisted goal to make it 5-2. The offense of Hunter Gilbert and Voskamp got the puck to Ryerson Hargrave for our third goal of the game. That would be all the goals we would count for this game. Mitchell got their 6th and final with 4 minutes left.
Final score 6-3. It was a great game and we scored the same amount of goals in this game as Mitchell has had against them all year so far! Good team effort Atom's!

Other than practise on December 31st, we have a break over Christmas and are back on the ice for a home game in Milverton, January 2nd at 7pm at PERC.
All the best of the holidays to all the players, coaches and their families. See you at the rink in 2017!
