The Atom LL team travelled to Plattsville on December 3rd for their first of 3 tournaments this year.
It was an early start for the Atom LL team as their first game was an 8:05am start.
Our hopes were high to have a good day of hockey and try and come out with a win or two. Tim Beuerman got the nod for starting in net against Twin Centre Stars. The first period saw Twin Centre end with a 1-0 lead. The second period was just as good as the first with Twin Centre only getting one more by Beuerman to end the second with a 2-0 lead.
Our team had a challenge for the third with being down by 2 goals. With 4:49 left in the third, Hunter Gilbert scored our first of the game, unassisted. Twin Centre got their third and final goal just 20 seconds later. Final score 3-1.
It was a good first game for our team!
The second game came at 11:40am vs. New Hamburg Huskies.

The first period was back and forth and a flurry of action. Just 15 seconds into the game Ryerson Hargrave scored on a pass from Hunter Gilbert. The lead was short lived as New Hamburg scored 30 seconds later. New Hamburg would get one more in the first. Central Perth came out ahead by the end of the first though with Cayden Hulley scoring two goals 4 minutes apart, both unassisted.
We went into the second with a 3-2 lead. The second period proved to be more action than the first. Both teams would score 4 goals in this period. Central Perth had goals from Ryerson Hargrave netting 2 and 1 assist, Sawyer Voskamp had 2 goals and assisted on Hargrave's goals. Noal Kirkham also had an assist on Voskamp's second goal. The second period ended with Central Perth leading 7-6.
We couldn't score any more goals in the third to cushion our lead. New Hamburg came ahead with 3 goals to finish the game 9-7.
Our third and final game came at 3:15 vs. Guelph Gryphons 2. We were hoping to end the day with a win after 2 close games. The first period put us ahead with goals from Ryerson Hargrave, unassisted and Haiden Goetz on a pass from Cayden Hulley.
We went into the second with a 2-0 lead! Hargrave kept his scoring streak rolling with another goal assisted by Saywer Voskamp. Hunter Gilbert added to the tally as well, unassisted. Guelph was able to score one in this period.
We rolled into the third period with a 4-1 lead. Guelph was able to score one more in the game. Kiryan Coulter passed the puck to Cayden Hulley who found the net for our 5th goal of the game. Hargrave and Voskamp connected again to complete the hat trick for Hargrave with 4 minutes left. Final score 6-2! We ended the day on a high note with a win.
The kids played as a team and represented Central Perth well!
Our weekend has two games for us, both on the road. Saturday we travel to Clinton for a 4pm start. Sunday we venture to Wingham for a 6pm game vs. the Ironmen.
