One game weekend that was a close one...
We welcomed Seaforth Stars to Monkton on Saturday.
The Atoms were hoping to get a win on Saturday vs. Seaforth.
The first period proved to be a busy one for both goalies. We got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Haiden Goetz. 45 seconds later, Dominic Ladd added another unassisted one. Seaforth got on the board shortly after and scored 2 more to end the period at 3-2 lead.
Both goalies got a workout in the second period too. Seaforth would score 3 more for total of 6. Haiden Goetz scored a beauty unassisted again for his second of the game. Ladd connected with Derek Gropp for his second of the game as well. Tim Beuerman was kept busy in net fending off a number of shots from Seaforth.
We went into the third with a 2 goal deficit to make up.
We would get 2 more goals in the third. Ladd, assisted by Bryer Hargrave and Haiden Goetz unassisted. Those goals completed both forwards hat tricks for the day.
Seaforth would get 2 more to make it a 8-6 final score.
Beuerman kept us close with making some great saves in net.
We have a busy week of hockey ahead.
Tonight is in Hensall at 7pm vs BCH 2
Saturday we travel to the Kitchener Aud for a 9 am game vs. New Hamburg. This is part of the Kitchener Rangers program where we play a game on Saturday and go back to watch the Rangers game on Sunday. The kids are super excited!
Saturday we also have a regular league game in Seaforth for 5pm.
