Game 13, 14 and MORE!
What and exciting week for the Atom LL!

Game 11

Sunday the Atom LL travelled to Wingham to face off against the Wingham Ironmen. Heading into the game, knowing we were down a few players we were hoping for the best. Thank you to our AP player, Derek Gropp for helping us out.  To quote a player “ We had three  players on the bench and three coaches...it was funny!” The number of players didn’t seem to effect this team, and they hit the ice hard, doing their best, with an outcome of a 5-2 win. Goals went to Sawyer Voskamp, one unassisted the second with an assist to Matthew Leach. Hunter Gilbert saw the back of the net twice, with assists to Nolan McMillian, Avyn Duncan and Ryerson Hargrave. Hargrave finished the game with his goal, assisted by McMillain.

LONDON KNIGHTS GAME

Friday, January 15 the Atom LL and families created probably what will be one of our best memories of the season. The team travelled to the Budweiser Center in London for an exhibition game against the Mitchell Meteors. A very special thank you to the Mitchell team for inviting us and setting the whole thing up! What an experience for the kids. The fans thought maybe the atmosphere and excitement got the better of the team, when it came to actually playing the game...but they proved up wrong, with a very exciting finish. At the start of the third the Atoms found themselves down 3-1 after Voskamps first goal in the second period.   Then the time showed 2:33 left, and things got exciting. Gilbert starts the excitement off with his unassisted goal. Score now 3-2.  1:20 showing on the clock, McMillian ties it up. 26.2 seconds left Voskamp comes through for the win, assisted by Tristen Leis.  Game ended 4-3. WHAT A GAME!

To add to the excitement of the night, Hunter Gilbert and Tristan Lies joined the London Knights on the blue line for the singing of the National Anthem before the game. You made your team proud boys!

Game 12

After the late night in London, the team travelled to Blyth the next day. We took the ice against Blyth-Brussels Crusaders 2.  An outstanding performance once again with a 5-2 win. Gilbert, Voskamp, McMillian, Reid Douglas and Leis all find the back of the net for the win. Duncan and Hargrave with an assist each.

Will the winning streak continue?  Only time will tell on Friday when we welcome BCH Ice Dogs 2 to Monkton.
