WOAA playoffs have begun!
The Central Perth Atom LL finished their regular season play in the West division in 5 position from 13 teams.  A big CONGRATULATIONS to the team! This puts them in the Silver West playoff round, playing a round robin against Mitchell, BCH 1, Bylth-Brussels 1 Black and BCH 2.

Thursday night it all began….

The Atoms dusted off their skates on their way to Mitchell to face off against the Mediators. It had been a few weeks since the Atoms had played a game, and unfortunately it showed. The first period the teams stayed even. Going in to the 2nd period, the fans where on the edge of their seats, waiting for that first goal of the game. At 2:22 Nolan McMillian came through, finding the back of the Mitchell net with a great assist from Matthew Leach. A minute later Hunter Gilbert continued the scoring, with an assist from Reid Douglas. Things where looking good…or so we thought.
Two seconds remaining in the second, Mitchell got their first goal. The third period saw Mitchell get two more, as the Atoms could just not keep up. Final score 3-2.

Friday night the games continue as Blyth-Brussels 1 make their way to Monkton.
Excitement, tension, sweat and tears are just a few words to describe what developed throughout the 45 minutes of hockey that night.
The first two periods the Atoms LL still struggled to recover from the loss the night before. Douglas was able to put one past the strong Blyth-Brussles goalie in the first with the help of Gilbert and our AP player Derek Gropp. In the second period Ryerson Hargrave also found the back of the next with an assist from Tristen Leis. But the start of the third we were still down by one. At 8:35 in the third McMillian tied it up, with assists to Hargrave and Leis. This is when the Atoms finally started to came alive, getting back to basics, playing like they can. Blyth-Brussels kept fighting back and at 5:26 they were able to get ahead again. But Central Perth didn't give up. After a time out call by Central Perth at 2: 55, goalie Zach Bowles was pulled to make it a 6 on 5 game. And this decision paid off as Douglas shot in the tieing goal at 1:19 with the help of Lies and Gilbert. As per WOAA rules, the 10 minute overtime period started. Outstanding performance by Zach Bowles who kept the game at a tie. The Atoms just ran out of time Friday night!

Saturday the team headed to Brussles in hopes to get the win they ran out of time to get the night before. And win they got! They took the skills they have learned all year, kept their cool and played smart hockey. And the score board reflected this as we walked away with our heads high in a 3-0 win!!!

An outstanding performance once again by goalie Zach Bowles, for a well deserved shut out!

A special shout out to the defence players infront of him who kept playing hard. Goals for the game went to Tristan Leis, who got his unassisted goal in the first period. Douglas scored in the third with the pass from McMillian. Leis finished the game with another goal with assists to Douglas and Ethan Neubrand.

The Atoms LL will continue their playoffs next Saturday in Clinton.

Keep of the good work team! As always, your crazy fans are extremely proud of you!
