Three game weekend comes up empty...
The Atoms had their work cut out for them this weekend with 3 games on tap.

Friday night had Blyth-Brussels come to Monkton. It was a tough game and we weren't quite in it to win it. The final score was 8-0 for Blyth-Brussels. Reid Baillie was kept busy in between the pipes and he had a good game.

Saturday morning Mount Forest came to Milverton. Mount Forest is the top team right now so we knew it would be a tough game. The visiting team lived up to their game as they kept us working the whole game. Logan Dallner netted our only goal in a 16-1 loss. Again, Reid has a workout in net and he does a great job!

Sunday we travelled to Mount Forest for another matchup. We were down a couple players so had to call a few up from the local league squad. Hunter Gilbert and Zach Bowles joined us. Zach was the goalie so he had his work cut out for him.
The first period was a great one and we kept the home team to a 0-0 finish for the first. We were all so impressed with the effort from the boys, especially Zach! He really stood on his head for us in net. The second period was great as well. Unfortunately Mount Forest got on the board with a couple of goals. For parents watching, we were so impressed with the effort compared to Saturday's game.
The third period was challenging as the kids began to weaken a little after a great start. Ben Fizell had our only goal on a beautiful breakaway. Mount Forest ended the game winning 9-1. A much improved game for sure.
The game on Sunday was our last of the regular season.

The Atoms are now off until January 2 when we are participating in a Minto (Harriston) tournament. We play at 9 am vs. Seaforth and 1 pm vs. Arran Elderslie.

Happy Holidays to all and here's to a big finish in 2016 for the Atoms!
