Good game vs. the Vipers
The Atoms travelled to Arthur last night for the first matchup in the WOAA playoff round.

Arthur proves to be a tough opponent for the Atom Rep team. Last night was no different. The first period saw Arthur open up the scoring 4 minutes into the game. Our team skated hard and kept on the Vipers throughout the first period. Ben Fizell fed a nice pass to Cohen Smith who broke up the ice and had a great shot past the Arthur goalie to tie the game 1-1.
Into the second period we went with high hopes of keeping it a close game. With 3:52 left in the second Jamie Donnelly was in front all alone of the goalie and shot to the net. It went in between the goalies pads and just barely floated past the goal line. The Arthur goalie didn't know it had went thru his legs. That put us up 2-1.
We held them off but there was quite a commotion in front of our net, sticks, players and shots one after the other to Reid Baillie. One shot from Arthur made it past Reid and it was tied 2-2 with 35 seconds left in the second.
Our lead was short lived unfortunately.
Into the third we went, with our legs getting tired. Arthur always proves to be a tough team to play and it's a challenge to keep out of the penalty box. This game only saw one penalty. With 11:01 left in the third, Arthur got past our tough netminder Reid  and went ahead 3-2. That's where the scoring ended.
Our Atoms played a good game and put in a great effort. Again this season, Reid Baillie was stellar in net!
We have a weekend of practices coming up. We don't have another game until February 19th in Monkton when Arthur comes back to us.

We'll see if we can bring our 'A' game that night and come ahead!
