Great start to OMHA Playoffs!
The Atoms had a big win last night in Arthur to start their first round of OMHA Playoffs!

The Atoms have met up with Arthur Vipers in the first round of the OMHA playoffs. We weren't sure how it would go with the kids getting back to routine after the Christmas break but we had high hopes for a win. Our only win this season was with Arthur back in early December.
The first period was a great effort by the Atoms. The defence hussled back to fend off the attackers. The forwards moved the puck up the ice to get some scoring chances. Reid Baillie was at his best in net again. The first period ended at 0-0. The fans were kept on the edge of their seats with the number of shots that were stopped by either goalie.
The second period kept us on edge again - both teams were back and forth with the puck. Scoring chances were denied on both ends of the rink. No score at the end of the second period.
The third period saw our Atoms start to slow down a bit. But with 6 mins left, we finally found the back of the Arthur net. Kyle Steckley came up big on a rebound from a Logan Dallner shot. We were ahead 1-0 with 6 crucial minutes to go.
With a minute or so to go in the third, Arthur pulled their goalie and we missed their net by inches on a shot from our end. So close! The last minute as a tense one with a scramble in front of our net, and a pile up of players. But Reid stood tall and the puck was saved!   What a great start as we end with a 1-0 win!
Back at it on Sunday, in Milverton at 3pm with hopes of ending this series in two games!

Practice tonight in Monkton at 7 and then tomorrow morning at 9 in Milverton.

Keep working guys!
