The Bantam Reps get their first win in OT!
Hard work paid off for the Bantam Rep team last night in Drayton.

We met Drayton for the 4th time in these playoff rounds. Drayton put us out of OMHA playdowns a month ago and they have beat us once in WOAA playoffs also.
The team up to this point was still searching for their first win of the season. We've had a couple close ones and a heartbreaker vs. BCH a couple weeks ago so the team was hoping for a good game.
We were off to a good start when 1:58 after the drop of the puck, Ashton Ryter scored on an assist from Cohen Smith. A minute later, Pierson Smith passed the puck from defense up to Kyle Steckley who was able to find Bradley Jantzi for our second of the first 5 minutes of the period! We would hold the lead for another 6 minutes but Drayton would get one passed Zach Bowles to come within 1. Just as quick as we scored our first two, Drayton scored another to even things up.
Into the second period we went tied at 2. Drayton would surge ahead with 2 goals at 12:09 and 10:24 of the second. But our offense didn't give up. With 7:45 left Maguire Snow and Gavin Wilson connected with Jantzi for his second of the game. Then with .41 left Smith again fed the puck to Ryter for his second of the game as well to even it up at 4.
Into the third we go with a 4 all tie. Tensions were riding high and some penalties had to be killed off for either team. Drayton would get the go ahead goal 1 minute into the third. Our team worked hard and came back to tie it up as Ben Buchanan carried the puck from our zone in to theirs and got by the goalie. Ryter assisted. Each team worked hard in the remaining minutes of the third period to end it at a 5-5 tie. What excitement!
Into 10 mins of overtime we go with a man advantage as Drayton had a player in the box. 7 minutes of back and forth and parents holding our breath! With 3:34 left there was a scrum in front of the Drayton net and somehow Steckley got the puck to Jantzi and he pushed it in! A 6-5 WIN! Shout out to Zach for keeping us in the game in the overtime minutes.
What a great end to a good game for the team. Hopefully we can keep the momentum rolling with 2 upcoming games vs. Listowel and one more vs. Bruce Penninsula to round out our playoffs.
