Zach Bowles came thru big for his team last night with our first playoff game vs. Mt Forest Rams.
The regular season game vs. Mt. Forest Rams didn't go so well for us so the team was hoping for the best last night in our first playoff round robin game.
The first period showed that we have improved over the season as we were evenly matched with the Rams. 4 minutes into the first period, Landon Boers scored our first playoff goal, unassisted. 4 minutes later, Noal Kirkham on defense fed the puck to Jamie Donnelly who shot to the net and Nolan McMillan was there for the push into the net to make it 2-0 at the end of the first.
Mt Forest would get one in the second with 2:46 left to bring it within 1. But with 37 seconds left Ryerson Hargrave assisted on Boers' second goal of the game to put us ahead 3-1.
4 minutes into the third, Hunter Gilbert and Hargrave assisted on a goal from Sawyer Voskamp. We had a comfortable 4-1 lead at this time. But we couldn't let our guard down as Mt Forest would score with 1:36 left and then another with 22 seconds left. Tensions were high for the last 22 seconds as we only had a 1 goal lead. Bowles was able to pull us through and we came out on top 4-3!
Zach did a tremendous job in net and never ceases to amaze the team and the fans watching! Great job everyone - onto the next game in 2 weeks.
