Winning start to the season for Atom LL!
The first game of the year was an exciting one...
The Atom LL travelled to Wingham on Sunday for our first regular season game. The kids were pumped for their first outing as a team.
Bryce Brown was the netminder for this match. The first period saw Wingham get on the board first. Central Perth had a lot of shots on the Wingham goalie but none could find their way by. The first period was lots of back and forth action.
The second period was much of the same action - we had a few ring off the post but couldn't get by the tough Wingham goalie. The second period remained at a 1-0 lead for Wingham.
Our persistence paid off in the third as Derek Gropp took a pass and scored a goal, unassisted. with 6:09 left in the third. Four minutes later, the line of Kaleb Horton-Shine and Tim Beuerman got the puck to centre, Hailey McLean. Hailey was able to push the puck past and give us the go ahead goal!
That's were it ended, a 2-1 win for the Atoms.
A great first team effort! We are on the road this week with a game Tuesday in Goderich at 6pm and Saturday at 2pm in Zurich.
