Busy weekend
The Central Perth Midgets had a successful weekend picking up five of six points in three weekend road games.

On Friday night, the team travelled to Teeswater to play the second place South Bruce Blades.  A first period marker by Jeremy Scheerer tied the score in the first at 1-1.  With no scoring in the second, the teams played the third determined to crown a winner.  The home side scored the first two goals within the first 7 minutes of the third.  Central Perth would not give up scoring their second goal with 1:25 remaining by Aaron Tollennar.  With the extra attacker, Derrick Knill was able to knot the score with 3 seconds remaining.  Thanks to spectacular goaltending by Jake Carter along with a relentless attitude, the team was able to pick up a key point in the race to first place in their division.  Helpers on the night went to Colton Quipp (2), Knill (2), Tollenaar and Sammi Roes.

Saturday night, the boys were in Goderich to take on the Sailors.  The first two periods were closely contested with the score knotted at 2-2 heading into the third on goals by Shawn Skinner in the first and Aaron Tollenaar in the second.  In the third, Tollenaar scored his second on the night only to have the home side respond with one of their own.  In the end, the visitors were too much for Goderich with Jeremy Scheerer and Ethan Leblanc on a phenomenal set up from Dana Smith scored twice more unanswered in the third to seal the 5-3 victory.

On Sunday, the team along with a short bench travelled to Listowel and found themselves in another close game.  Some key saves by Tyler Leung, hard work and some timely scoring by Jaxon Gilbert, Derrick Knill and Ethan Leblanc sealed a 3-2 victory for Central Perth and allow them to finish the weekend tied for second place with a record of 8-1-1 on the season.

The boys are looking forward to two key match ups this week versus the first place Wingham Ironmen on Thursday in Wingham and hosting the South Bruce Blades in a return matchup on Friday night in Milverton.
