Plattsville Tournament
First tournament – lots of memories!

On Saturday the Atom LL participated in their first tournament of the year. The team traveled to Plattsville for a day filled with lots of skill, fun, friendships and facing off against new teams.

The team started the day off to a great start. They took the ice against Oakville Blue Flames. Wide awake and skating strong the CPMH Atoms came through with a 5-0 win. Hunter Gilbert got the team on the board with the first goal of the game. Assists to Landon Boers and Reid Douglas. The first period continues with a goal for Douglas, assisted by Voskamp.  The third period saw lots more action with a two unassisted goals to Nolan McMillian, and an assist to McMillian as Voskamp puts one in the net.

Part of the tournament also involved a skills competition. Congratulations to the team for also winning their shoot out. All players, including goalies got to take a turn. Special shout out to our Defence players, who got to shoot twice, and to goalie, Zach Bowles. Not only was Bowles strong between the posts, but he also got his first goal of the season during the shoot out!

The second game of the day, the atoms struggled to get back their strength as they faced off against a strong Windsor Spitfires team. The game ended in a 4-0 loss.  This meant we would end the day playing for "silver".

After some fresh air, the team ended the day playing agisnt Twin Centre. Twin Centres took the lead in the first period. Down one goal in the second period Gilbert was able to put one past the strong Twin Centre goalie with an unassisted goal. Heading into the third at a 1-1 tie, the Atoms where having a hard time keeping their strength up after a long day, and Twin Center was able to get 3 more goals, for a final score of 4-1.

Congratulations to the Atom LL who ended their day in fourth place. Something to be very proud of as we saw seven other very strong teams!

This upcoming week brings only practices for the team. A small break to enjoy some Santa Clause Parades. The team will be back on the ice on December 18 as we welcome Mitchell to Monkton.
